Мениджърът на Манчестър Юнайтед сър Алекс Фъргюсън е отправил последна оферта към Тотнъм за българския нападател Димитър Бербатов, твърди "Нюз ъф дъ Уорлд". Според информацията сър Алекс е предложил на "шпорите" 25 милиона паунда.
Шотландецът вече отправи една оферта на стойност 20 млн. английски лири, но тя не бе приета. Ако трябва да се вярва на изданието, този път Тотнъм ще приеме предложението.
Трансферната сага около бъдещето на Бербо се отрази по някакъв начин и на мениджъра на лондончани Хуанде Рамос. Испанският специалист извади Митко от групата за мача със Съндърланд (1:2), "за да не се разваля атмосферата в съблекалнята".
Според повечето спортни журналисти на Острова, тази мярка означава, че Бербатов е договорен за Манчестър Юнайтед. "Нюз ъф дъ Уорлд" пък вече спряга Емил Хески от Уигън и Майкъл Оуен от Нюкасъл като евентуални заместници на Берба в атаката на Тотнъм.

Ultimately, however, the figure that stood out most by his absence on the pitch was that Narcissistic tanned young thing watching with boredom from the stands. Without the pace and fear factor of Ronaldo, without his ability to break and put teams on the back foot, United look pedestrian going forward and infinitely more manageable for the opposition. Don’t worry they say: Berbatov’s on the way. The moody Bulgarian was left out of the Tottenham team that suffered a home defeat to Gareth Southgate’s well-organised Boro side. United have reportedly lodged a final £25 million for the Spurs striker and, although this falls short of the reputed £30 million price tag, it seems Spurs’ desire for funds to replenish their depleted attack will persuade them to part with a player who is clearly unwilling to perform for them any longer. Yet would Berbatov’s presence plug the Ronaldo ‘gap’? Hardly, we suspect. The Bulgarian is a sublimely talented player who may benefit from the hard work of Tevez and Rooney, but he won’t provide that element of fast-running dynamism that Ronaldo has perfected in the past two seasons to bring United such success. Until he returns in October, United will be a good team waiting for the missing part that makes them a great team. Sad to say, but true for the time being until we can find an equally devastating player or players. Just as we are struggling with the absence of a talismanic player, so are Arsenal. A few weeks back we riled a few casual Arsenal interlopers on this site by suggesting they would drop out of the top four this year at the expense of a newly-resurgent Tottenham. Clearly we have to hold our hands up and admit we haven’t got a scooby: Tottenham have looked a shambles thus far. Whereas previously they relied on the ability to outscore the opposition as a method of offsetting defensive (and defensive midfield) vulnerabilities, now they have lost even this edge and unless they recruit lavishly and cleverly in the next seven days they too face another year of high hopes and average returns. So whilst Arsenal aren’t threatened by a challenge of their foes from N17, they are very clearly prone to the lack of strength in depth that virtually every pundit has harped on about all summer. Moreover, they are missing the team’s engine and architect - Cesc Fabregas. From a partisan perspective we have no great love for the gobby little Spanish pizza thrower, but we’re not stupid enough not to acknowledge what an awesome player he is. We like to think Anderson craps on this fellow and whilst I think the Brazilian will mature into a great footballer, he doesn’t have the range of passing and scoring of Fabregas or the overall game intelligence. Not yet at least. The 1-0 victory last week against the Baggies was a superficially good start for the Arse, but Fabregas’ range of passing and superior vision was clearly missing as it was yesterday in Arsenal’s extremely poor effort against Fulham - who admittedly were very well-drilled. Whilst United can probably hope to muddle through to some kind of good form before the return of Ronaldo, you wouldn’t be so confident to say the same about Arsenal without Fabregas. Imagine if Fabregas’ absence were any lengthier or co-incided with the absence of Adebayor - that would look very troubling indeed for the Gooners. Fergie has to wield whatever influence he can this week in pulling off the Berbatov transfer - in so doing he will take United to the best possible Ronaldo-less level. Unless they want to entertain the possibility of another trophy-less year, Arsene Wenger should likewise have a word with his board and tell them the only chance they have of competing with United and Chelsea is to take a risk and spend a few quid more.
